Irene Schiess Bistué
Chartered architect by ETSABarcelona, she’s dedicated almost all of her professional career to humanitarian aid, working in development in Vicente Ferrer’s Foundation from 2004 to 2006 in Anantapur, India, where she coordinates the architectural department.
From 2006 to 2014, works with Doctors without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) in different logistics positions (construction technician, water and sanitation technician, logistics coordinator) in several countries, mainly in the African continent. Along these years, she takes part in the logistics coordination of emergencies such as the earthquake or cholera outbreak in Haiti during 2010.
Takes on the responsibility of MSF-OCBA Emergency Unit logistics between 2011 and 2014.
Over the last years, Irene has facilitated trainings related to emergency logistics in Doctors without Borders, at Fordham University, University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona or at UPC in Barcelona.
She is Co-founder and secretary within Cooperativa Humanitària where she’s involved in several trainings and contributes to the development of technical logistics trainings
